Moderation Policy
The Best Tapa is a community guide to the best tapas, built on photos and votes from real people at real venues. These rules keep that content trustworthy. They apply to everyone who submits a tapa, uploads a photo, casts a vote, or writes anything on the platform.
Last updated: July 2026
Food photos
Photos carry the app, so we hold them to a simple standard:
- Upload only photos you took yourself or have the right to share.
- The photo must show the real tapa or dish at the venue you attached it to. No stock images, screenshots, menus, or pictures pulled from other sites.
- Keep people out of the frame as the main subject, and never upload a recognizable person without their consent.
- No watermarks, heavy filters, or promotional overlays that hide what the dish looks like.
As much as we love a good selfie, this is not about you. It is about the tapa. Point the camera at the food and let it shine.
We keep your photos private until a moderator approves them. Photos that break these rules get rejected or removed, and repeat violations can limit an account.
Venue accuracy
A guide only works if the listings are real and correct:
- Submit a tapa only for a venue that serves it. Don't invent venues or list a dish a place doesn't offer.
- Attach each tapa to the right place and city so it shows up where people expect it.
- Vote only when you are at the venue. We check your location at the moment of the vote to keep rankings honest.
- Report anything wrong, such as a closed venue, a renamed dish, or a duplicate listing, so we can fix or merge it.
Spam and manipulation
We remove anything that games the system or clutters the guide:
- No fake or coordinated voting, vote-buying, or using multiple accounts to push a venue up the rankings.
- No duplicate submissions, advertising, affiliate links, or off-topic promotion.
- No automated scraping, bots, or bulk submissions.
- Venue owners are welcome, but may not inflate their own placement.
We remove spam, and we can restrict or suspend abusive accounts.
Offensive content
The Best Tapa is a friendly, all-ages food community. We do not allow:
- Hate speech, harassment, threats, or attacks on people or groups.
- Sexual, violent, shocking, or otherwise inappropriate images or text.
- Illegal content, or content that exposes other people's private information.
We remove this content on sight, and we can suspend the account that posted it without warning.
How takedowns work
Anyone can flag content, and a moderator reviews every report:
- Use the Report option in the app on any tapa, photo, or listing to send it to our moderation queue.
- Not in the app, or reporting a rights or privacy issue? Email support@thebesttapa.com with the link and a short description of the problem.
- A moderator reviews each report and may publish, hide, edit, or remove the content. We log privileged moderation actions so we can review the decisions later.
- We handle copyright, image-rights, and personal-data removal requests fast. A valid request gets the content taken down.
We review reports as fast as we can. We action clear violations right away. A borderline case can take longer while a moderator checks the context.
