How The Best Tapa voting works

Every vote on The Best Tapa comes from someone who was actually there.

The difference is that this system counts only votes from people in the city where the tapa is served. A tapa earns its rank from actual tasters, not from anyone with an internet connection.

The rules

You must be in the tapa's city to vote

When you vote, we check where you are against the city the venue is in. Anywhere inside that city counts, so you can vote standing at the bar or later that evening from your hotel. You cannot vote for a tapa in Sevilla from Madrid, or from outside Spain.

Cities are different sizes, so the boundary is too: Madrid is a much bigger area than a small coastal town, and we use each city's real extent rather than one distance for everywhere.

Vote later, up to 12 hours

If you open a tapa while you are at the venue, we log your presence for 12 hours. You may vote at any time during that period, even after leaving the city, and the vote remains linked to your visit.

One vote per tapa

Vote once per tapa. Try as many as you like; each receives one vote from you.

Your privacy comes first

Your location is used only for voting or check-in. We do not keep your coordinates or build location history. Proof of presence stays on your device; clearing browser data erases it.

Why tapa voting matters

Fake reviews are common. Verified tastings are rare. This ranking is trustworthy for you and for tapa makers.
